  • BETA Release
New Habbo, formerly known as Habbo BETA is a great leap in the development of Habbo, taking it way into the future. You're probably thinking 'Why make such a big fuss of it - why call it BETA and not release 36?!'. Well, that's because so much has changed they needed more people than usual to test it and make sure everything worked and to do this a select number of Habbos were given BETA access to the hotel, and gradually these users could invite their friends to experience BETA and this continued until it was finally released to the whole of the Habbo community. Habbo UK were once again used as the pilot hotel before it was exported to all of the other hotels in the Habbo Universe! Our guide will show you the ins and outs of this whole new Habbo, we even have a rather unique interactive guide for you to take a look at!

A new loading screen has been added whilst you wait for the hotel to load

The loading screen has been simplified greatly, similar to how it used to be a very long time ago. All it shows now is the Habbo logo, Sulake logo, loading bar and a nice little message telling you what's going on. You can compare the old version with the newer version below by clicking the smaller images.

    Toolbar Changes

The toolbar is of course the most important part of Habbo, allowing you to access what you want to - well maybe not everything you want, but everything we've been given! It wouldn't be right not to update these if everything else was getting an update, and we weren't disappointed. Many of them have now become animated and are all brand new styles, with some brand new icons too! Some of the icons will appear where ever you may be, but some will only show up when you're in a room - we'll let you discover which those are.

    Icon Description
This is the help button. On the hotel view, this is where you can search through all the FAQs and get answers to the questions that are bothering you. This then saves you having to search through the Help on the Habbo homepage. In-Room this button is where you call for help.
This is the Home Room button. Clicking this takes you to the room you set as home room. In order to create a home room (it is by default, Hotel View) you simply enter a room, click the room details icon and then select 'make home room'. Then, whenever you click the home room icon or load the hotel, you'll be transported to that room.
This is the navigator button. This will open the Navigator and allow you to access different original or guest rooms.
This is the Console button, this will allow you to stalk, IM or search for new friends. You can also deal with your own friend requests via the console.
This will launch the catalogue where you can redeem a voucher code, browse or buy new furni for your room.
This is the IM notification button, by clicking it you will see the IM dialogue box. A flashing exclamation mark means you have unread IMs.
This will open up your inventory where you can view your furni, badges and achievements.
This is an exciting new feature of New Habbo. It allows you to zoom out of normal guest rooms or zoom in/out on V9 rooms. Due to the large size of V9 rooms, many people complained that they couldn't see their Habbos properly. With this zoom feature, you've got the best of both worlds!
The room details button allows you to vote up or down a room, view its owner, add to favourites or check out the tags. It is also where you can make a room your home room. For room owners, this is where you access your room settings.
By clicking the image of your habbo, it throws up several options. You can view badges, activate effects, change clothes, view your rooms, dance and even wave.

    Navigator Changes

First up is the new look for the navigator. It's gone from a pale blue colour to a rather darker colour, and the best update in my opinion is the new previews of rooms. Rather than those little square boxes we had on the old Habbo, we've now got some glossy curvy ones!

    Navigation Tabs Altered

Next up we have the tabs along the top of the navigator. These have been vastly improved and make finding what you want even easier! You can choose from one of the tabs illustrated below, which will then turn up a smaller set of tabs within that section to refine your search even more. These tabs are all detailed below!

    Tab Icon Description
These are divided into two different parts. The first is 'Official Rooms', which are the new 'Public Rooms'. The second is 'Popular Rooms' which, as the the title says, are the rooms that are most popular. The Official Rooms have not all been added so be sure to check our Updates page for when more are.
This is the new 'Guest Rooms' tab. This allows you to click the categories to find the room you want either by Category or by Highest Score (room rating). The categories have remained the same but there are some new additions. New Habbo no longer has a separate 'Event Rooms' section and has instead integrated it into the New Habbo Navigator.
These are your rooms, all your rooms from Old Habbo will have moved over to New Habbo. It has been divided up into the rooms you own, your favourite rooms but also a new addition, the rooms you have visited!
Not only can you stalk friends using the console, but this tab allows you to see what rooms your friends are in but also the rooms that they own.
The Search feature is pretty much the same as the Old Habbo but it allows you to search for both tags and room owner.

    Room Information

You no longer have to look at the room name, owner and rating all the time whilst you're in a room! When you enter a room, this information will appear in a little box, which then disappears after a little while. You can make it come back by pressing the room icon on the navigator at any time. If the room is your own, click the Room Settings to edit the way your room works! Making the room your Home Room will mean you can click the Nest icon on the toolbar to go there. You can also create an event from this popup.

    Editing Rooms

When editing a room you'll have two screens. The first, the 'basic settings' will let you change the room name, icon (explained in next section), doorbell/padlock, category, tags and description! On the advanced settings, you can see who has rights in the room and remove them from individual people - handy or what?! You can also delete the room from this, all furniture goes into your hand now!

    Room Icons

This is a rather funky little feature! You can set your own icon to appear on the navigator next to your room. There are 3 levels to this - the background, icon and 'top level' (border). There are a number of preset images in each of these categories for you to chose from. Creating these icons are free and can be created for every room you own!

    Creating Rooms

We've been spoilt in the room department! Making a new room only take 2 simple steps, choosing a name and then a layout! Anything else you want to add is now done in the room settings section as mentioned earlier in this guide.

    New Icons

So, now you know how to navigate the navigator, you may become slightly confused by some of the new icons and other features that have also arrived! These include a new 'Trading Allowed' symbol which indicates whether or not trading is allowed in a room and being able to create your own room's avatar!

    Symbol of feature Description
The old 'go' button has been replaced by what looks like a play button. Simply click that to be transported to that room.
You can also create a little icon that your room will display! There are numerous variations of images you can have on this through three layers of images.
The number of the people in the room is shown to the bottom right of the 'go' .
If a room has an icon of two open hands, this means that trading is allowed in the room.
By clicking the heart, you instantly add that room to your favourite rooms which you can find under the 'Me' tab on the nav.
The tags associated with that room will show beneath the room title. These tags are then searchable under the 'Search' tab on the Nav
The way you can view information about a room has also been changed, you can now only see two lines of the description below the room's name and owner, and if it exceeds this length there will be some little dots... Hover over the room and you'll see a popup appear with the full description and even the rating!
Rooms now load a lot quicker, it took around 5 tries to get the image to the left because it's so fast! Either that or I wasn't paying enough attention.

    New Console

The console and messaging features are perhaps one of the least-changed features of New Habbo, but chatting has had a few little changes too! There has been an update with colours and the friends category now shows both Online and Offline friends whereas it previously showed them under separate tabs. The console has gone on a diet and lost some it's weight, but worry not - if you feel the need to make it bigger, you can just drag the bottom right corner outwards. The chat system is virtually unchanged except some new colours which match the console!

    Old Console New Console

    Chatting

You'll also notice that chatting in a room has had a bit of a change. Firstly, the chat box has been made much larger so you'll so what it is if you're new, and if you still don't recognise it, the 'Click here to chat' message will help you. As always, there are three ways to chat - say, shout and whisper. Say is still the default setting and will be what your text appears in if you don't tell it to do anything. Shouting will make your text bold and heard by anyone in the room, to do this you can press shift and enter to send your message, or add ''>hout' to your message. To whisper, click on the Habbo you want to whisper to and click the new whisper button and type your message as normal, only it will only be seen by that person!

    Chat Bar Whisper Button

    Chatlogs

Also in this new update, it isn't only moderators who can review what has been said in a room! You can now drag a box down from the top of the room which will display all of the messages that have been sent whilst you have been in the room, along with who said them. There is also a scroll bar to the right so that if there are lots of messages, you can scroll up and down through them.

    Catalogue

The catalogue has been given a little bit of a facelift. It now boasts quicker loading times, a new, more modern feel and updated tabs. You can compare the old with the new below (click the images to see the whole thing)

    Old Catalogue New Catalogue

    Removal of the Habbo hand!

The inventory is a massive change and is a world of difference to the old Habbo hand. The use of an inventory over the hand means trading is faster because you don't have page after page to search through. Your inventory is only available whilst in a room and is displayed on the toolbar as a hand holding a box. This new feature also shows your badges and achievements, so you'll also be able to access it from the Badges icon on your Habbo. Your furniture is split into two categories; floor and wall. Floor furni includes items such as chairs, tables and sofas whilst the wall section contains paint and posters. Having multiple items will result a number being displayed in the corner of the furni's icon. Clicking an item of furniture will present you with various information in the right panel, including it's description and an image. There are also two smaller icons for the ecotron and trading system. If you can trade or recycle the item, these will appear clearly - if you can't then they will have a no entry sign over them. The badges tab will show all of your badges you have been awarded to the left, and those you're wearing ont he right. To wear a new badge, find it on the left panel, click it and then press the Wear Badge button on the right panel! The achievements tab will display all the achievements you can earn to obtain pixel points.

    Trading merged with Inventory

Yes, it really is true! No more dragging furniture from your hand all the way to the trade box, one at a time! Now all you have to do is click the item you want to trade, then press the offer button to add it to the trade window. If you're wanting to trade more than one of an item, simply press the offer button the required amount of times!

    Pets temporarily unavailable

Some other little things happened in this update and some things were sadly left out at the beginning, but we are told that they will be returning in the future. The first thing which was left out was Habbo Pets - all dogs, cats and crocodiles were covered in a white sheet whilst they were unavailable - maybe they should be released as Halloween Pets! However, we now have our little furry, or maybe spikey, friends back in their baskets.

Along with pets, Snow Storm and Battle Ball departed, but may return!

Along with this was the removal of both Snow Storm and Battle Ball which are yet to return to the hotel, but in a recent post by the Hotel Manager, we were told that they would be making a comeback, or maybe a new game - but we've not heard anything more than that right now so you'll have to sit tight and wait!

    More Notifications

Finally, the notification system has been updated a little with a new popup box giving information on Pixel Points earned and when you complete an achievement. You will also now be notified when a friend comes online, or when someone goes offline so maybe it's best to keep a small friends list from now on! It still works the same as the old system, but has had a little bit of a face lift and you can't scroll back through the notifications now so you'll have to keep an eye on the top right corner!

    Trophy Description Changes

Trophies have been somewhat changed aswell, though they still appear in their original colour whilst in a room, when you click on one to read the inscription, they now have a blue border and white background rather than the old gold, silver or bronze background to them which looked a lot better!
